Chidambaram & Manmohan Singh's roles should be probed in 2G scam, says BJP

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Saturday stepped up pressure on the Centre alleging that both home minister P Chidambaram and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh knew about the 2G spectrum scam, but did nothing to stop it. "The proof against Chidambaram is overwhelming.
The government has been soft on Chidambaram. Chidambaram's place is where A Raja is, the same cell in Tihar Jail," senior party leader and former finance minister Yashwant Sinha said. He demanded a probe into the "role" played by the Prime Minister and Home Minister in the spectrum allocation. "If the Prime Minister's role is not inquired into, then we will not be able to do justice," Sinha said.
"If today I have any admiration for A Raja it is for the fact that he kept the Prime Minister informed at every step. He wrote a letter to the Prime Minister whenever a new development took place. If after all this, the Prime Minister kept silent then it would not be considered as silence but consent," Sinha said. "If this touches Chidambaram, the PM knows he cannot be untouched. The Prime Minister defended Raja till he went to jail, so he will defend Chidambaram till he goes to jail, and only then will he start defending himself," he added.
